This new method uses the same data as the old, it just provides a less trouble-prone method of access. All users of the old access method (https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/PROJECTNAME) should switch to the new access method immediately. Instructions for doing so can be found here: https://www.sourceforge.net/docs/E09#notice . A timetable for deprecating the old access method has not been set yet, but you should update all scripts and other programs to use this new method immediately to ensure future functionality. The old ViewVC URLs are currently being rewritten to ensure they function into the future.
( 2006-08-01 11:49:35 - Project Database Service ) As of 2006-07-31 the project database servers had their MySQL build upgraded to the latest binaries provided by the MySQL developers. This upgrade was required due to security issues. Post-upgrade it was noticed that the ISAM storage engine had been deprecated, causing a small number of projects (about 10) to no longer be able to access their database using standard mechanisms. A quick attempt was made to convert these databases for projects, but as this change has been documented for some time by the MySQL developers, we can not spend further efforts towards converting these databases. We recommend that all affected projects import from their last database dump for the easiest transition.
( 2006-07-13 09:23:52 - Project CVS Service, Project Shell Service, Project Subversion (SVN) Service, SourceForge.net Web Site ) A recent kernel exploit was released that allowed a non admin user to escalate privileges on the host pr-shell1. We urge all users who frequent this host to change their password immediately and check their project group space for any tampering. As a precaution, we have blocked access to all project resources by password until the user resets their password. After the password has been reset, project resources should be accessible within 5 minutes.
